A Traditional Update
It is always an exciting event to purchase a new home but sometimes it needs some necessary attention to achieve the home feeling everyone wants to experience when settling into their new surroundings.
These clients bought a home that was outdated and lacked energy flow. Their first concern was to lighten up the living areas and to update the spaces to reflect their traditional décor taste. The project started with adding coffered ceilings to add expansiveness and drama to the room. Choosing a light gray paint for the walls added brightness and serenity to the dark space. We then added a feature wall boasting classic bookshelves, accent wood shelving and a stunning fireplace to enjoy on chilly nights. Showcasing classic navy blue and white furnishings lends a hand to depict a coastal feel in the newly transformed space. It now boasts the traditional feeling they were seeking.
The kitchen was outdated and nonfunctional for this family. Removing a wall and opening the space to the main living area created energy flow between the two main gathering areas. By replacing the existing brown granite with a white marbled countertop, painting the cabinetry a bright white, upgrading the appliances and range hood, and adding a breakfast bar, this space gained a much-needed breath of air. The tile used for the backsplash enhances the coastal feel of the newly opened space.
The dining room lacked character and pizazz. The clients desired a space that was impressive to their guests as well as a comfortable area for family gatherings. We achieved this by choosing a soothing accent color for the wall creating a comfortable ambiance in the room. Subtle changes were made such as choosing a fun area rug to bring a pop of color into the room and islandly artwork on the walls. To achieve the wow factor we chose a stunning chandelier that is both eye catching and interesting enough to leave a striking impression on friends and guests.
My clients now have a home that not only reflects their tastes but provides a light and cheery atmosphere for their family and friends.
